I know I have taken the whole month of February off from blogging. It wasn't my intention but life has been full of drama (good and bad) last month. I am just happy to be back with all of you.
First I got a second job with an awesome company called Mad Science. We go out to different elementary schools throughout the metropolitan area and work with students grades K-6 after school and during school hours with awesome Science Projects. I, of course, have been keeping up with my pageant preparation by continuing to work with the awesome trainer Chris Harrison at Core Complete Fitness in Desoto, TX. I also had a great one-on-one session with the great Heather Sumlin of Mental Management Systems in Flower Mound, TX. If you are in sports or performing arts of any kind this company will give you the best preparation of any kind. They are more than worth the time and money through the services and great preparation they offer.
I stopped training for my 5K unfortunately because the weather started to affect my health a bit, and also there has been recent suspicious activity in my neighborhood. However, I still did run the Be The Match Run+Walk with my best friend and my mom beside, and sometimes behind me. The weather that morning was absolutely dreadful, and it definitely did not help with my flu-like symptoms I was struggling with earlier in the week. I had two asthma attack during and after the run, but I accomplished my goal of running and informing more people about the need for Marrow Donors. I hope I did some good for those currently fighting and those who have already fought their blood cancer battles.
On a sad note, my grandmother passed. She was an amazing woman who I was really close with ever since my grandfather married her and introduced us. I still remember our first conversation about what I would call her the first time I met her. She taught me how to fry hot dogs, she introduced her love for Grape Soda and Tahitian Treat to me, and she taught me it's never too late to commit to the Lord. In the weeks leading up to her she asked to be recommitted to the Lord. She wasn't afraid that she wouldn't go to heaven, but she just wanted to make sure. At her funeral, I shared this story among others and actually had two people commit to the Lord at the funeral. I was so happy that I almost forgot why we gathered together. I miss her a lot, but I will make sure to keep her same humorous and faithful spirit that she carried.
Finally, this is it! It's time for me to finally compete in the last competition of the Miss Texas Organization local season. I will be competing in the Miss DFW competition this Sunday. I am very pumped, and proud of my growth on my journey to preparing for this day. There will be two crowns given and it will be held at the Plano Courtyard Theater on March 10, 2013 at 4 pm. Tickets are $15. My goal is not all about getting the crown, but showing my growth, encouraging and informing more people about the need for more Marrow Donors, and having fun! I love the adrenaline of competing, and I love making new pageant friends. I hope for nothing but the best for all of us. I personally believe it's my time to finally shine, but I will leave it in God's hands. For more information please feel free to contact me anytime.
